Church of St. Bartholomew
ul. Kościelna 1
62-500 KoninThe Konin parish church dates back to the turn of the 14th and 15th centuries. The gothic style prevails in the church's architecture. From the south side of the building, we can distinguish two chapels: the gothic church of the Blessed Mary and the Renaissance, founded in 1607 by dr Jan Zemełka. In the main nave of the church there is an early-baroque tombstone - Stanisław Przyjemski (the crown marshal and the foreman of Konin). In the gothic chapel, there is a gravestone of his brother, the foreman of Lignów, Krzysztof Przyjemski. The outer walls of the church are covered with numerous traces engraved by the inhabitants of Konin and reaching back several centuries. A cross made of sandstone was once embedded in the buttress. On the main façade of the church, the small tower with shooting ranges, which probably fulfilled defensive functions in the Middle Ages, deserves attention. The original decorative element also stood on the front door of the church - bronze antby from the fifteenth century, in the shape of a lion's head. The figure of Eligiusz Niewiadomski was connected with the history of the church for several years. In the years 1904-1910, the artist made a polychrome and stained-glass windows decorating the church to this day. The creator, however, is less known for his work, and more so from the murder of the First President of the Republic of Poland - Gabriel Narutowicz. For this infamous act he was finally shot.
